Thumbs up for Sandisk Support

All over the internet we too often hear about negative experiences with companies. I’ll admit that I’m quicker to write about negative experinces like Bank of America and 1 & 1 than positive experiences. Today, I’m here to write about a great customer service experience with Sandisk.

sansa-zip-clipA few months back I ordered a Sandisk Sanza Zip Clip MP3 off Amazon. After a month or so of use it froze. Of course, I Googled around and tried all the little reset tricks out there. Nothing helped. I fired off an email to Sandisk support fully expecting to get the run around but within hours a reply came from an actual human! Less than 5 hours and 2 emails later I had a RMA number an UPS return label.

The next day I dropped off the broken player at a UPS drop box and a week and a half later I had a new MP3 player at my door.

You cannot beat that kind of customer service! :)  Of course, as luck would have it a week later I dropped the MP3 player on the road and it was run over completely killing it but that’s on me.

GM provides free seat belt extenders!

A few months back we got a new car and being the big guy that I am the seat belt doesn’t fit. For the most part, I don’t bother with the seat belt when it doesn’t fit as most cops are decent enough to let me go without a ticket when I show them it legitimately doesn’t fit. For my part, I really would rather wear the seat beat. If for any other reason than not giving cops a reason to pull me over and bust my chops.

Over the summer, I hit a checkpoint by the local cops. The constable was nice enough to let me go but told me to get an extender. Figuring that one from the dealer would be ridiculously expensive as the dealer wanted $80 for a 6″ extension on one of my previous cars. I went online and found a universal seat belt extender from Amazon, for $15 how could I go wrong? It bolted on to the post and would be hidden from view, no big deal. I took the car for inspection and asked the mechanic to throw it on. He tried but said there will be wires on the floor if he installed the bolt on extender. Newer cars and their computerized BS. The only reason the seat belt would need a wire is for that stupid bell that reminds you to put on the belt. So knowing myself, I’d rip the wire out with my feet in no time I told him not to worry about it. He offered to call his GM dealer and find out a price.

Long story short, I was pleasantly surprised to find out GM provides seat belt extenders as a courtesy to their customers but the dealer would have to charge my mechanic a penny to generate an invoice and order the part, it would be in following week. What a pleasant surprise! My buddy was heading up to the garage for his inspection and I asked him to pick it up for me and told him to make sure you pay the guy his $0.01, lol. The mechanic said tell Dan it’s a gift from us. :D

Thank you General Motors for not gouging your customers on a much needed accessory. Kudos to you for doing it as a courtesy and not even charging.

4th of July weekend 2011

This weekend I didn’t do much exciting for the holiday. Friday was spent running around doing all the grocery shopping and such trying to beat the weekend traffic. The first trip to Wally-World at 5:30 am was pretty quiet. The second trip the butcher and dollar store in the afternoon was a nightmare with traffic.

Saturday was pretty uneventful though busy. I did some lawn mowing then came home and fried eggplant for Eggplant Parmesan for my sister’s birthday on Sunday. After all the cutting, breading, cooking, and frying was done I had to start my laundry. By the time I hit bed at 3am, I was wiped.

Sunday was my sister’s birthday. We had a big dinner and brownies other that I took it easy.

Monday, I finished the front lawn of a house I take care of. Today (Tuesday) I have to go up and mow the back plus do a little raking. Thankfully the backyard is much smaller than the front and I’ll probably grab Chinese for lunch up there while I’m working.

I bought God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood off Amazon yesterday. I’ve always loved the song but only listened to it on YouTube forever it seems. Now it’s on regular rotation on my MP3 player.

This week is shaping up to be busy. A friend of mine is driving up from Florida to move back into his house. I’ll be helping him get everything cleaned up so he can live there. Then we have lots of work to do to make the house sellable. Other than that I’m hoping to grab a day at the beach.

How is your week shaping up?
