Big Dan's Corner

I’ve been itching to paint my bedroom since I did the kitchen and living room with my uncle back in March but kept putting it off because it’s a ginormous job. I have to disconnect all my electronics, move everything, paint, then put everything back. I’d decided to move the furniture around in my bedroom yet again last week and I figured what better time to paint. I woke up early in the morning moved half my furniture out and started on the worst part, the ceiling. Everything went pretty good until Rosie (the cat) decided to step in the roller pan and track paint all over the house! If you ever wanted to hear someone curse like a sailor at a cat all you had to do was stand outside my window. Luckily it’s water based latex paint so it wasn’t a major problem but cleanup was headache between what I dripped on the floor and what the cat tracked, I was on my hands and knees with a scrubby sponge for a good 2 hours. I was not a happy camper after painting and moving furniture all day!.

The paint job came okay there is streaks though where it didn’t quite cover. I think it’s a combination of the paint being cheap and rolling over 7 years of nicotine stains. Mom says why don’t we buy a 5 gallon bucket of primer, great idea mom AFTER I do three rooms, lol. It kind of feels like I did all the work for nothing but we’re going to get a flat white primer and just leave it as is after I prime. If I’m feeling frisky next year I’ll buy a 5 gallon bucket of semi-gloss and do the whole apartment again, with the prime coat being only a year old I should be okay if I sponge mop it first.

I had a little mishap putting the outlet covers back on, apparently a flat head screw driver fits perfectly in the outlet causing a nice little jolt. Thankfully it didn’t fry my brain anymore then it already is.  It was a nice pick-me-up though I highly recommend it over a cup of coffee.
