At the laundromat

I never realized laundromats are weeknight hot spots. I am writing this from the “Bubble Bank” laundromat and no there isn’t any wifi. :( I got here about 10 PM and the place was hopping. We got a middle aged, semi-retired looking couple doing what looks like laundry for an army troop and a mother with 5, yes 5 kids running around like wild Indians. It’s a school night you’d think the kids would be home in bed? Luckily they left before I was done sorting everything.

When I wind up doing laundry I normally wait until late in the evening when *most* people would just be hunkering down for bed, this way I have the run of the place and don’t have to wait for machines and all that annoying stuff. Consequently waiting for night time my pretty much brings selection of laundromats to one. There’s only one near me that is open 24 hours, it’s 40 minutes away from my house in Pennsylvania but it’s a nice quiet ride out there and the place is huge. Plus about 10 minutes away from the laundromat there’s a nice size town with a Dunkin’ Donuts open 24 hours which I normally stop at on the way home. There’s 6 huge washers and about 20 double capacity ones. Additionally there’s about 15 dryers it’s a great place to do a bulk of laundry. That always wondered me, why are there always more washing machines than dryers? Dryers take more time..Things that make you go hmm.. Plus this laundromat is very well maintained, there’s vending machines, arcade games and even a bathroom which oddly most laundromats don’t seem to have.

For the most part I *gasp* actually like doing laundry it gets me out of the house for a few hours, away from my ever bickering mother and sister and I treat myself to some coffee or a late dinner on the way home or I pick up something on the way and eat it at the laundromat. Yeah you can tell I don’t get out much but on the plus side mom’s getting on in years and really shouldn’t be lifting big bags of laundry in and out of the car. I haven’t done laundry since last October because of my leg being all messed up. Since I skipped my walk this evening lugging laundry up and down the stairs and folding it is my workout. ;)

On the way in I stopped at a convenience store and bought some coffee, which tastes like dirty dish waster. I love Pennsylvania but it seems like every where I go in PA their coffee is like crap. I also scored some hot cheese popcorn which is hard to find in New York. The cashier commented that I’d get indigestion with all that spicy stuff, I said well it’s hard to find in New York then we actually said she’s heard that before. I guess there’s more Hot Cheese Popcorn fans out there. :D We talked about other stuff that’s hard to find then the other cashier who was cute started talking about in and out burger. It’s funny at night you always meet people to strike up a conversation with plus people in Pennsylvania are so friendly. I wonder if that cashier has a man? :p

I just put my laundry in the dryer. I had a ton this week, two big giant silk laundry bags! It hasn’t been done in two weeks. Every towel had to be washed plus I decided to throw in my blankets and robe, getting ready for winter. All in all $12 in three jumbo washers and so far $2 a piece in 5 dryers.

Well I don’t know how I stretched what was supposed to be a short snippet of a post into a little over a page but I’m going to sign off and grab something from the vending machine. On my way home I think I’ll stop at Wally-World and browse around a bit.

I was board here’s some pics at the laundromat sorry for the quality it’s from my laptops cam. You can tell it was laundry day, my shirt is old and all stretched out.

and really bored..
